What’s The Co-Worker Game?

The Co-Worker Game is IKEA’s first ever mainstream game. It’s also your chance as a Roblox player in the UK and Ireland to get a job in the world’s largest furniture retailer. You can do all sorts of things you might encounter if you worked at IKEA, like showing customers different kinds of tables and chairs, serving them meatballs and getting involved in all different parts of the restaurant and showroom—all without leaving your home.

Ikea is hiring 10 people to run a virtual store in Roblox

IKEA is offering paid shifts to 10 successful applicants. You could find yourself working in various areas around the store from the Showroom (helping people pick out furniture) to the Bistro (serving those well known Swedish meatballs.. YUM!), living your dream of being part of the home furnishing store.

IKEA’s Unique Approach to Careers

Darren Taylor, IKEA’s Country People and Culture Manager explains “there is no career path at IKEA. Our co-workers can move roles, move departments and progress in any direction within the game or reality” This experiential hiring strategy will hopefully communicate the non-linear nature of IKEA’s career opportunities and movement across business departments laterally.

Application Details

  • Application Deadline: June 16
  • Game Launch Date: June 24
  • Virtual Interviews: Shortlisted applicants will have virtual interviews between June 14 and June 18.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be 18+ and located in the UK or Republic of Ireland.
  • Hourly Rate: Successful applicants will receive £13.15 (approximately $16.78) per hour—the same rate as a London-based IKEA staff member.

Roblox and Brand Experiences

With a user base of 77.7 million daily active users, brands are now engaging with players and offering them branded experiences in a virtual space. While there are many who disapprove of the platform for “exploiting” young creators, IKEA’s implementation is a prime example of the good that can come from the Roblox platform.

So if you’ve ever wanted to work at IKEA, now is your chance! Apply, expore the store, and serve those meatballs. Perhaps this will be the start of an incredible career path in the real world.
